Rattletrap Car--Phyllis Root
I really enjoy the language of this book. "Poppa turned the key/brum, brum, brum,/fizzely, sizzely/wappity, bappity/lumpety, bumpety" etc. I read this consistently to my two year old daughter over a period of 2 months, and recently she picked it up and read it to me! Not that she did this word for word, but she got the gist of the story right. Kids will have fun making engine noises, identifying animals, and wondering how the family is going to fix the old car that keeps falling down so they can make it to the lake. A great summer book!
